This outfit test was great as we got a real perspective of how the outfits will look in low lighting levels. We are satisfied with what they look like, as it gives them a hint of a mysterious look.

Costumes For Film Opening

The first costume that Jamie and Jared will wear in our 2 Minute film opening will be the classic black suit and tie. They choose to wear this as it is a typically known look for business men or for characters that are up to no good. In our film as the two characters are not business men, the fact that when they wear this is will give off a comical look rather than the, sleek business man one they were going for.

The second costume the two characters will be wearing, will be a white dishdash complimented with a patterned shemagh headscarf. The reason for this outfit is purely because it is so out of the blue and random we hope for it to give off an immature and comic look. They also choose this attire as they find it a good way to hide their identity as they rob a corner shop.

Insidious Chapter 2 - Opening Scene Analysis

Insidious: Chapter 2
Genre: Horror/Thriller

Characters

In the beginning the characters speak very slowly with short sharp sentences, which build up the tension with the awkward silence in the background. The male character has a very peculiar, its just his long hair and beard join as one and his long brown tweed coat all look very mysterious, this all goes very well together to present itself as a horror film.

Sound
It starts off with very eerie and spooky music which is non diegetic. This music then fades off and moves onto a silence in which all you can hear is the foot steps of one of the characters. Which turns it into diegetic sound.

Camera Shots
The first camera shot we see is a low shot showing the footsteps of the first character. Then after she walks up the steps leading to the house we are shown a low to high angle shot, which looks like a bit of an establishing shot, as we can see the character, the house and all of its surroundings. We're then presented with an over the shoulder shot which was used to show conversation between two characters.

Mise en Scene
The mise en scene of this film is a dark mysterious looking house with wind whistling, this really is a good recipe for a horror film. As the camera moves into the house, we can see the décor of the house is very old fashioned and dated, this is a stereotypical characteristic of a a spooky haunted house and i think this works really well, especially as the genre is horror/ thriller.

We are not shown a great deal of footage in the opening 2 minutes, but by the camera angles showing the audience the mysterious house and peculiar clothing of certain characters, the audience can most definitely tell the film is along the horror genre.
